Cytaea species? |
(ID proposed by J. Proszynski)
(but may belong to an entirely different genus)
female: about 9 mm|
male: about 7 mm
This species seems to be common on leaves in Queensland tropical rainforest regions
May cause pain/inflammation
A noteworthy feature of the male of this species seems to be the pair of bluish white lines that run along the length of the 'head' region. Whether or not these
lines are also present on the female of this species is apparently not known but it seems likely that strong differences in appearance between males and females are
a characteristic of other Cytaea species.
Spider(s) with a very similar appearance: Several other kinds of salticids, notably Cytaea species.
